I was invited as part of ‘Culturdale’ – a celebration of all things Calderdale. We played around with all sorts of titles and themes. ‘The Industrialists’ – too formal. That’s all the mills, all… Read More painting Well that’s embarrassing… September 14, 2023 Kate 0 Comments After our summer break I was made aware by a customer who’d bought one of my 2024 calendars that there was a misprint. It seems that the month of October has the dates for 2023 instead of 2024. Don’t ask me how this happened, as I’m not quite sure. We had proofed the calendar several times and the dates were correct. The final (fourth) proof was done in order to tweak the colours on a couple of the images and somehow the mistake crept in at that point. I’m usually so ready for my children to be back at school – mainly because I’m panicking about the jobs that are piling up, and I’m quite ready for some quiet creative time. July 27, 2022 Kate 3 Comments For Christmas this year my Dad bought me a beautiful book of Eric Ravillious Wood Engravings… Dad and I are both huge Ravillious fans, but the book of little engravings were a revelation. Above are my favourite three: I love the tiny, styalised perfection of them! I’ve long wanted to get back to some kind of proper, formal print making. So I had a route and a… Read More painting Auction for Ukraine March 16, 2022 Kate 0 Comments I am auctioning this painting of Shibden Hall on Sunday, with all proceeds going to the DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee – Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal). I know that many artists have been selling their work, much of it on the sunflower theme. I finished this earlier this month and realised it was in the Ukrainian colours.
